Donation of four new exam tables supports new services for patients at Midwest Medical Center in Galena

For Immediate Release | October 11, 2024

GALENA, IL— The Galena Rotary has purchased four new state-of-the-art exam tables and procedure chairs for Midwest Medical Center with a $1,200 grant received from Rotary District 6420 combined with $5,162 committed from the Galena chapter. The application narrative cited the expansion of Midwest Medical Center and commitment of the organization to provide more and better healthcare for residents of Galena. Northwest Illinois, southwest Wisconsin, and northeast Iowa as a core reason for the need for the new equipment. The additional exam tables will allow current practicing physicians to expand their patient base and specialists to expand their level of diagnostics and surgical procedures.

“Midwest Medical Center is expanding and this is a good thing to do. Our board looked at the project need and growth of the hospital and felt it necessary to increase patient services. These tables will go into exam rooms and make a difference,” said Rotary president Jim Berberet. The focus of the Rotary is to give back and help the community.

“We are grateful for this generous donation and the support of the Rotary Club to continue to meet the needs of our community,” said Tracy Bauer, Midwest Medical Center president and CEO.

Midwest Medical Center (MMC) provides care to Jo Daviess County and the surrounding counties to patients regardless of their ability to pay. MMC provides more than $3 million each year to uninsured and underinsured patients in our communities. MMC is also the only hospital in Jo Daviess County to provide care to those patients. New and expanded service lines in the past year include Rheumatology, Urology, Gynecology, Obesity Medicine, and expanded Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Two additional nurse practitioners and a full-time dietician have also been added to staff.
