Community Walks Launch This Spring in Galena and Elizabeth
The Galena Rotary Club, in partnership with Midwest Medical Center, invites the community to get moving this spring and summer with the “Catch Your Stride with Us” walking initiative. Starting Saturday, May 2nd, nine weekly walks and hikes will take participants through scenic neighborhoods, trails, and nature preserves, concluding Saturday, June 27th, at Casper Bluffs Nature Preserve.
The goal of the program is simple: to inspire healthier, happier lives through walking while building community connections. Walks will include both morning “coffee” gatherings and evening “night cap” strolls, providing opportunities to socialize and make new friends along the way.
Walk Schedule Highlights:

Participants are encouraged to join the Galena & Elizabeth Neighborhood Walk Club, which will keep members moving and smiling beyond this initial series. The club is free, and a t-shirt is available (while supplies last) for in-person registrants at the first walk.
Jon Clingman, the event organizer, shared his personal connection to the initiative:
"My wife Julie and I have been enjoying walks for close to 45 years. Wherever home was, we agreed that there should be more walkers. Group walks offer safety, stimulate conversation, foster relationships, and cement friendships. ‘Catch Your Stride with Us’ is our invitation to neighbors, friends, family, and newcomers to enjoy these benefits together."
Community members can stay updated by joining the Galena & Elizabeth Neighborhood Walk Club Facebook group. Whether you join for fitness, friendship, or fun, these walks offer something for everyone.
